It i
s not necessary, my child, to know a lot in order to please a lot; It is enough that you love me with fervor. Talk to me then, here, sincerely, as you would talk to the most intimate of your friends, as you would talk to your mother, to your brothers and sisters.

Do you need to ask me for a favor on behalf of another? Tell me his name, better still, the name of your father and mother, your brothers and sisters and friends; tell me what you would like me to do for them. Ask lots and lots; do not hesitate to ask; I love those generous hearts who come to forget about themselves, in certain terms, to attend to the needs of others. Talk to me, then, with sincerity, with affection, about the poor that you would like consoled, about the sick that you see afflicted, about the lost that you would like to see on the right path, about the friends you wish to have at your side. Ask me for a friendly word for all of them; a word of friendship; a word that is warm and fervent. Remind me, that I have promised to listen to all petitions that come from the heart; and do you not feel the need to petition on behalf of those whom your heart especially loves?

And for yourself do you not need any grace? Make a list for me, if you want, of all your needs, and come, read it in my presence.

Tell me frankly that you feel pride, if you love sensuality and lavishness, that maybe you’re egocentric, inconsistent, negligent…. And then ask me to come to your aid in your efforts, be they great or small, to free yourself from these miseries. Do not be ashamed, poor soul! There are so many just souls in heaven, so many Saints of first-order, who have had these same defects! But they prayed with humility, and little-by-little they became free of them.

Neither should you hesitate to ask for spiritual and corporal blessings, health, memory, success in your work, business or studies; all this I can give, and I do give, and I want you to ask as long as it does not oppose, but rather aids in your sanctification. Tell me; what do you need? What can I do for your benefit? If you only knew of my great desire to please you!

Do you bring with you at this moment some kind of project? Describe it to me, everything meticulously. What worries you? What are you thinking? What do you wish for? What would you like me to do for your parents, for your brothers and sisters, for your children, for your friends, for your superiors? What would you like to do for them?

And for me? Do you not wish to glorify me? Would you not like to be able to do something good to your loved ones, to your friends, whom you love dearly, and who live perhaps having forgotten about me? Tell me, what is it that particularly calls to your attention today, what is it that you long for most vividly, and what plans do you have to obtain it. Tell me if your business is going badly, and I will give you the causes of the poor results. Would you not like to fill me in on these things for your benefit? My son, I am the owner of hearts and I carry them gently, without prejudice, to their freedom where I am to be found.

Do you perhaps feel sad or depressed?

Tell me, tell me, inconsolable soul about your sadness in all detail. Who wounded you? Who hurt your self-esteem? Who disrespected you? Draw near to my heart, which has balms to cure all these wounds of yours. Give me an account of everything, and you will soon find; in my likeness; that you forgive everything, that you forget everything, and in return you will receive my consoling blessing.

Do you fear the uncertainty of the future? Do you feel in your soul that vague gloominess that, not without just cause, leaves you stricken? Throw yourself into the arms of my loving providence. I am with you; you have me here at your side, I see everything, I hear everything, I do not leave you even for a moment.

Do you feel rejection from people who previously wished you well, and now, forgetting, they drift away from you without the slightest reason? Pray for them, and I will bring them back to you, given that they are not an obstacle to your progress in holiness.

Do you not have something joyful to recount to me?

Why do you not give me, being your friend, a share in this happiness?

Tell me what, since yesterday, since your last visit to me, has especially lifted up and consoled your heart. Perhaps you have had pleasant surprises; perhaps you have seen dark clouds dispersed; perhaps you have received fortunate news, a letter, a show of affection; have overcome some turmoil, or have come out of a difficult situation. All this is my work, and I have secured these for you; Why not show me your gratitude for these and tell me simply, like a child to his father, “Thank you, my Father, thank you?” Gratitude brings with it new benefits, because the benefactor likes having received correspondence.

Neither do you have some kind of promise to make me?

I read, as you already know, the most profound depths of your heart. People are easily fooled, God no; talk to me, then, with all sincerity. Do you make a firm resolution never to place yourself in that occasion of sin? To deprive yourself of that object that hurt you? Not to read anymore that book that stirred up your imagination? To stay clear of that person who disturbed the peace in your soul?

Will you come back to being sweet, kind, and obliging with that person who, having missed you, has looked at you as enemy until now?

Very well, my child, now go back to your habitual work, to your tasks, to your family, to your studies. But do not forget our fifteen minutes of gratuitous conversation here in the solemnity of the Sanctuary. Guard whenever possible silence, modesty, resignation, charity to your neighbor. Love and honor my Mother, who is also yours. Come back tomorrow with the most loving heart, most committed to me. In mine you will find each day new love, new gifts, and new solace.

I am waiting for you here.
